The Light at Night

The Light at Night

There was a blush over the hills
From where the night lay down to sleep
From where the stars twinkled and laughed
As on the dim clouds creeped

There was a hush over the hills
As twilight murmured her quiet moon song
Down to where we walked down the road,
And yet there was light
Trailing along…

There was a soft peace in the depth
In the pause where the world stopped spinning
In the splish splash in the blue silence
With that breath of wind
Where we stopped being

There was light suffused in the air
Scattered, gleaming over the many miles

The light at night,
That glow of warmth
That I hid away in my heart

The light came from
Your smile
