Blue Silk

Blue Silk

Incandescent
Draped in blue silk
She stood
Awaiting perfection
The lines of her, taut
And withdrawn
As if yearning for
Completion

And marbled hands and
Azure veins
Mapped her frozen, placid
Expression
Simultaneously shy
And wild
Hesitant
But bereft of inhibition

Carved from chips of ice
As if, her eyes
In simplicity, out dazzled
The riots of color abound
They all debated
The truth of her beauty
But she knew the truth
Of all the lies

The smiling woman
So proud and vain
Was still a broken child
Inside

First day of the last one third! Day 21 of NaPoWriMo!! Inspiration for today’s poem came from two very strong women I know, and am blessed to know.

Much love!

Your kooky
