Hunger

Hunger

I can’t breathe
I’m gasping for air
The hunger gnaws
On my burning insides
It’s as if my lungs
Will tear, wide open
Maybe, when broken
I function better
than when whole
Maybe I’m better off
being this cold
Hewn out of sheet rock
Gravel with marbled veins
Pebbles in my chest
Somehow though,
the tears
still stain
And it makes complete sense
There’s a rock
Where my heart should be
And I can’t breathe
How could I

When you’re not with me?
