A Seemingly Innocent Porpoise
Buoys and gills, listen up close!
I have a whale o’ tale to tell
A seemingly innocent porpoise
Let minnow, he’d found a shell
Perched at the edge of the roe
He manta just explain to me
About the very low, low price
I would need to pay, to sea
Or better yet, to buy the thing
In pearly pink with ridgey rims
He floundered a bit in details
but on porpoise, he wasn’t dim
In fact he seemed too wily by
A half, or quarter, or three fourth
The so called magic wishing shell
Seemed quite fishy, definite hoax
The more he waxed eloquent, I
Cod not believe the tails he told
I may not be a brain sturgeon but
Shells don’t turn no sand to gold
And on he went. acting all koi
I was sure, he was half cooked
He kept baiting me on strong
But no way I would be hooked
So I got on the next shuttle, away
From unbassed balding lies
Never be fooled by tuna phrase
Of seemingly innocent porpoise.

My apologies. =P Day four of NaPoWriMo, the prompt today suggested we write a poem with a title out of an Iain M Banks book. The title came to me first, and whale, I just got carried away. I totally plead gillty, Hope it didn’t make you too crabby. =P And if it did, I’ll send you a cuttle to say sorry. =P
Ah, I need kelp, =P
Cookie ❤
Sounds like a bit of a fishy tail to me, Cookie. Funny !!!

Lol, this is hilarious! And you won’t believe this but I was walking through Dublin yesterday when suddenly, out of nowhere this thought came into my head: “Koi, and coy. This could be used as a clever pun in a story or poem about fish”.
How weird is that?!

Ahahahaha lol! That’s pretty funny! And the timing was bang on too lol. Reminds me of a story my friend told me, about how her computer froze in a poetry group when she was scrolling down, right on my poem. She read and then when it unfroze she commented, and that’s how we became friends lol. Synchronicity is the catfish’s whiskers! 😀

Crazy stuff right?! Why on Earth would I be thinking about Koi and Coy?! And I bet it was right while you were writing it too haha 🙂
Very cool!

Reading this put me in an excellent mood. My husband was an indefatigable punster. Listening to his puns down the years gave me such delight. He’d have loved you on the spot. I’m so glad I’ve gotten to know you and your kooky, whimsical sense of humor a bit. Aside from that the only thing I can say is ‘more, more, more’.

Your wish is my command, dear Sand. Day five’s poem is just finished, and will be posted in the next two minutes! 🙂 It’s more serious, but rest assured, I will put up more puns for you, 🙂
And I’m sure I would’ve loved your husband too. After all, he loved you, and I love you too, don’t i? ❤ ❤

This is really witty! Loved reading it! Especially the ‘acting all koi’. Your poem made me smile!
I hope you will check out some of my poems too, although a different style and not as clever you may enjoy them! 🙂
